Exam registration process for Private Candidates 

Please note the October / November 2020 Cambridge registration process for Private Candidates will only be done online.

Please follow the steps below in order to register:

  • Select registration link Cambridge Oct / Nov 2020 Registration
  • Carefully read through the guidance notes before you register.
  • Click on the “Register Here” tab at the bottom of the Guidance Notes page. You will be taken to the Registration Mode page.
  • Select the appropriate registration mode to indicate who you are registering the exams for.
  • Fill in and confirm your email address. Click “Proceed”
  • Complete your contact details. Please note if you do not complete all required fields this will cause  a delay in processing your registration. “Click Proceed”
  • Tick the box to confirm you have read and understood the Privacy Terms and Conditions. Click “Proceed”
  • Fill in your personal details and submit all required documents in the relevant fields. Click “Proceed”
  • Select all the subjects you wish to register for by clicking a small box to the left of the subject you want to register. Subject fee is shown next to the subject. Click “Proceed”
  • Complete the Disability requirements & Child Protection section. If you are registering for a student above the age of 18 years, select “No” in the drop-down menu below and click “Proceed”. If you are registering subjects for a student under the age of 18 years, select “Yes” and complete the information below. Click “Proceed”
  • Fill in the Application Details section. If you are registering for more than one candidate, click “Add another attendee” and repeat all the process mentioned above.
  • Click “Complete Registration”
  • You will receive a confirmation email with your selected options and payment instruction. Kindly check your junk/ spam folders if you do not see confirmation email in your inbox
  • When contacting the British Council, always quote your reference number in email subject line.

Requirements

To apply, you need:

  • A completed the application form
  • An ID/Passport sized photograph
  • A copy of a South African ID Book/ID Card or a valid Passport; a birth certificate for applicants under the age of 16
  • Proof of payment
  • A signed consent form is required for all minors( <18 years old). The form can be downloaded from our download documents below

Practical examinations

  • We do not offer practical exams in Cape Town.
  • We will not be offering science subjects with a practical component in Oct/Nov 2020 exams in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.
  • We can only offer subjects with “alternative to practical” component.
  • For practical exams please visit the http://www.cambridgeinternational.org/i-want-to/find-a-cambridge-school/  for a list of school in that administer practical exams. You are kindly requested to register for the practical component directly with the respective school.

Deadline for modified papers is the 01 July 2020. 

Notifications to British Council for access arrangements is 17 July 2020. 

 

Step 2: Pay for your exam

You will find the fees for all exams listed on the registration system. Your application will not be processed until you have paid for your exams in full.

Similarly, you will not be allowed to attend an exam if you have paid but have not completed the application and submitted this along with all required documents to the British Council for confirmation of your registration.

Completed application form together with copy of identity document and proof of payment must be sent to ssa.enquiries@britishcouncil.org

Step 3: Submit your registration

You have now completed and paid for your exams.

The final step is to submit your application online to the British Council.

To do this, you will need:

  1. Login to your registration account.
  2. Ensure that all required documents as outlined in the REQUIREMENTS section above are emailed to our Customer Services Team: ssa.enquiries@britishcouncil.org
  3. Please check that all details entered are correct and click submit.

Step 4: Registration complete

You have successfully registered for school exams with the British Council

You will receive your Statement of Entry and information about your examination venues approximately four weeks after registrations.
