The Maker Library Network commemorated Mandela Day in Qunu, Nelson Mandela’s home town. Themed ‘Reboot the Computer Lab,’ the aim of the weekend was to encourage children to rethink what computers are and the endless possibilities of what they can do.
Stations were set up at the Nelson Mandela Museum with an assortment of activities for the children to engage with and have fun while learning. Children are great when it comes to improvising toys – whether it is a brick that becomes a toy car or used paper for origami fighter jet planes, the possibilities are endless.
The weekend turned out to be a great success; not only did our makers leave the children with a bubbling interest in technology but they brought the community together.
