The Reading Association of South Africa (RASA), International Reading Association (IRA) and the International Development Committee-Africa (IDC-A) will provide a forum for teachers, teacher educators, writers, librarians, researchers, academics, publishers, parents and children and local and international development workers to showcase research, practice and innovative literacy strategies that imaginatively engage literacy development across Africa.

Professor Viv Edwards, director of the National Centre for Language and Literacy (UK) and recipient of the British Council English Language Teaching Research award will be presenting on ‘African language publishing for children: a story about stories.’ The British Council will also present on 'Activating imagination before, during and after reading - key strategies for the successful teaching of reading.'
